Donovan Waupoose is a dedicated cultural leader and mentor from the Menominee Indian Tribe of Wisconsin. He has committed his life to revitalizing the deep and sacred relationship between Indigenous people and the buffalo, leading the Menominee Tribe’s initiative to reestablish Buffalo culture after more than 200 years. As a volunteer mentor with Medicine Fish, Donovan supports Menominee youth in reconnecting to land, water, and cultural lifeways. Through this work, he nurtures healing, belonging, and a sense of responsibility rooted in traditional ecological knowledge. His leadership is grounded in a vision of Indigenous resurgence—where young people walk in balance with the natural world and carry forward ancestral teachings.
