Our Partners
The Loka Initiative is an interdisciplinary, capacity building and outreach platform at the University of Wisconsin-Madison for faith leaders and culture keepers of Indigenous traditions working on environmental and climate issues. Loka is housed within the Center for Healthy Minds. We are partnered across campus with 7 other university institutions; 4W, Center for Interfaith Dialogue, Division of Continuing Studies, Global Health Institute, Nelson Institute of Environmental Studies, Office of Sustainability, and Religious Studies.
Bravebird is an Indigenous-led multimedia creative studio celebrated internationally for our human-driven stories. Based in the Midwest, we partner with purpose-driven organizations to document enduring legacies across the rich tapestry of human experience. We are committed to weaving authentic storytelling through design, brand, and film, amplifying inspiring stories with perspectives steeped in ancestral wisdom and contemporary relevance to truly make an impact.
The Great Lakes Inter-Tribal Council, Inc. (GLITC) is a consortium of federally recognized Indian tribes in Wisconsin and the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Organizational goals and objectives are established by the Board of Directors, which is composed of the tribal chairperson or president (or his/her delegate) of each member tribe. The member tribes represent communities of five Indian Nations on 12 reservations, a combined American Indian population of 40,026 (US Census 2010), and a land base of about 500,000 acres spanning 31 counties.
The Center for Healthy Minds at the University of Wisconsin–Madison is a global leader in understanding the mind, our emotions and well-being. It advances breakthrough interdisciplinary research, develops contemplative tools aimed at cultivating well-being, and tells the story that well-being can be learned. It is the administrative home for the Loka Initiative at UW-Madison, and is deeply committed to Loka’s vision of Deep Resilience, and community-led collaborations with faith leaders and culture keepers of Indigenous traditions.
